A special prosecutor has been named for the retrial of a man accused of killing an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper.

Former assistant district attorney Darrell Dowty will get another chance to try Kenneth Eugene Barrett. Barrettâ€™s charged in the 1999 killing of Trooper Rocky Eales.

Jurors were deadlocked in October. They voted 11-to-1 for a conviction. Eales' relatives and members of the highway patrol all say they wanted Dowty to retry Barrett.
