The Transportation Security Administration says airport screeners in Oklahoma City confiscated nearly 23,000 prohibited items at security checkpoints in the past year.
Those included knives, guns and box cutters.
More than 1.4-million passengers boarded airplanes at Will Rogers from March 2002 to February 2003. On average, one prohibited item was intercepted for every 64 passengers.
The national average is one prohibited item for every 110 passengers.
At Tulsa International Airport, screeners intercepted one item for every 130 passengers.
