(Undated-AP) -- The filing period for the special election to fill the Senate seat vacated by Gene Stipe has ended, with one Republican and five Democrats vying for the post.

Stipe resigned last month amid a federal investigation.

Republican Jess Davis and Democrats Clif Davis, Doctor Dwain Doyle, former state Representative Lloyd Fields, state Representative Richard Lerblance and Charla Sloan have entered the race.

District Seven includes Pittsburg, Haskell and Latimer counties and part of Sequoyah County.

The primary election is scheduled for May 13th and the general election will be June 10th.
