The City of Tulsa is reaching out to help the cash-strapped American Airlines.
Tulsa Mayor Bill LaFortune met with the airline's management and union leaders last week. They’re looking for ways the city can relieve some of the financial pressure.
The group has announced their findings. They include the possibility of reducing landing fees and rental costs charged by the city. The vice president of the Transport Workers Union says there's more we can do to help. John McDonald with the Transport Workers Union, “And the mayor joining with us in trying to get citizens of the community to write letters to their congressmen and senators is extremely important."
So far nothing has been finalized. American Airlines employs 9,000 workers here in Tulsa.
