Home ownership is the American dream, and Friday morning in Claremore, Barbara Fox celebrated her new status as a homeowner.

She is one of the first participants in an innovative program that allows eligible families to convert government aid, previously used to supplement rental payments, into assistance in buying a home. "Living in someone else's home for the rest of my life, that's what I thought I'd be doing, living in someone else's home not mine, now I have mine (laughs)."

There are many more people who are eligible for the program than are taking advantage of it.
