A Tulsa teacher received a big honor Wednesday. It came all of the way from the nation's capital.
Deidra Wakeley teaches 6th grade at Edison Preparatory School. She is one of the most recent recipients of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.
She just got back from a trip to Washington DC where she met with the other winners. "It was also very gratifying to get to talk to the other winners and find out what their projects were, find out how there's wonderful things going on in education in out country.â€
Along with the trip, Wakeley also received $7,500 for projects and lessons in her classroom.
