BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (AP) _ The Bartlesville School District is the target of a lawsuit filed by the parents of a boy who was attacked in a school locker room.

Don and Cheryl Streets contend the district ``failed to provide a safe environment.'' Their son, Kyle Streets, was a ninth-grader when he was assaulted by two students in October 2001 while changing clothes for a weightlifting class.

The Streets, who are asking for more than $10,000 in damages, say the family has suffered as a result of the attack.

Police said they were called into investigate the incident, which involved two sophomores who overpowered Streets in the last hour of the school day in the locker room. One of the boys sat unclothed on the victim's face for several minutes, police said.

Police investigated the matter as an indecent exposure complaint, but the family declined to press criminal charges.

The Streets' lawsuit complains that it was ``common practice'' for mid-high employees to unlock the locker room and leave students unsupervised.
