(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Third District Congressman Frank Lucas is recovering after a run-in with a 250-pound heifer at his ranch near Cheyenne.

Lucas spokesman Jim Luetkemyer says the congressman lost a tooth and underwent an emergency root canal after butting heads with the heifer Sunday night.

Lucas canceled some appointments, but returned to Washington Monday.

This is the second time Lucas has been injured on his ranch. He suffered a broken nose in 1996 when a cow slammed a swinging gate into his face.
