Would you be willing to shave your head for charity? Some Tulsans would and did.
Local business leaders and law enforcement officers attended Tuesday's "Shave to Save" event for the American Cancer Society. Volunteers agreed to raise a certain amount of money for the organization or get their head shaved. If they did raise enough money, they got to pick someone else to be shaved.
The idea was to show support for the people who've lost their hair during cancer treatment. Volunteer Doug Townsdin, "I do believe that there is a cure out there. We just need to be focused on trying to find that cure and that's what we do with a lot of the money, is fund research to find ways to cure cancer."
The "Shave To Save" event raised nearly $14,000 in four weeks for the American Cancer Society.
