(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Oklahoma voters could be voting in the presidential primary earlier next year.
A Senate bill passed Monday would move the primary election up to February.
Oklahoma is now part of the southern Super Tuesday primary in March.
Senator Keith Leftwich says the nominees have already been decided by March and that having an earlier primary could persuade candidates to come to Oklahoma.
The bill says the Oklahoma presidential primary will be the third Tuesday after the New Hampshire primary. Leftwich says that date will probably be February 17th, 2004.
That date could change since New Hampshire has not officially set the date of its primary.
