(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Lieutenant Governor Mary Fallin is predicting that many Republican lawmakers will fight Governor Brad Henry's lottery plan.

Henry wants a statewide lottery to help pay for public education. Fallin says she's opposed to the idea.

She says support for the plan from Democrats and Republicans may not be enough to send it to a statewide vote of the people.

Fallin also says she usually supports the public's right to vote on issues, but not in this case.

The governor has said a lottery would raise up to $300-million a year for public education.

But Fallin says in an interview with The Associated Press that most GOP members in the House and Senate don't feel a lottery will resolve public education's budget problems.
