A new lead in the murder of Pawnee County Sheriff Dwight Woodrell. Investigators with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation searched an area along highway 64 in Pawnee County Tuesday for evidence connected to the October 2001 murder.
Woodrell was on his way home when he stopped to investigate a suspicious person at an oil field. Investigators know he made an urgent call for back-up, but when help arrived, Woodrell had been shot several times, he later died.
The OSBI won't say what prompted this latest search or if anything was found.
