(Houston-AP) -- Retired broadcast executive Michael Oatman died
early Monday in a Texas hospital. He was 63.

Oatman was co-founder and owner for 35 years of Great Empire
Broadcasting, which owned stations in Tulsa; Wichita, Kansas;
Springfield, Missouri; and Omaha, Nebraska.

Oatman's attorney says Oatman died of liver cancer about 4:45
Monday morning at the M-D Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

Oatman was a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, and last
February received the 2002 American Broadcast Pioneer Award (NAB).
