A Tulsa man shoots and kills another man who police believe was sexually assaulting a woman.

Tulsa Police say the woman asked a man for a ride home on Saturday and that ride ended with the man dead. News on Six reporter Patrina Adger says around 11 AM Saturday, a 49-year-old woman asked 25-year-old Arville Jordan for a ride home. Police say Jordan had apparently been drinking, and instead, drove the woman to an alley near Archer and Detroit where Jordan got out to use the restroom.

Tulsa Police Sgt Mike Huff, "She was still seated in the vehicle wanting to get a ride home and he got back in the car, partially disrobed and then the attempted sexual assault started when she was resistant and screaming."

A man was looking at some construction property nearby when he heard the woman's screams. He got on his cell phone and called police, then yelled to the suspect to let the woman go.

The suspect let her go and he started to drive westbound on Brady. But then Jordan reversed the car, attempting to run over the man. The man ran the other way, then pulled out a gun and started shooting. Jordan continued after the man and hit him with his car. He tried to hit him again; only this time the man fired his gun killing Jordan.

Arville Jordanâ€™s family told police he attended church and had a family. While police say Jordan had been arrested before, they say heâ€™d never been arrested for any rape-related incidents. And Tulsa Police, as well as the suspect's family are puzzled about what exactly happened.

Police are still investigating. Monday morning, I spoke to the man who shot Arville Jordan. He tells me he's very upset over what happened this weekend. He says he didn't mean for anyone to get hurt. He was just trying to help someone who needed it. Police say the man did surrender his gun and it's not known whether he had a permit to carry it.

Police also say they will forward all the information to the Tulsa County DA's office, so he can determine what to do next.
