An assault in Tulsa that has an Owasso grandmother asking what's wrong with our world.

She went to a Tulsa quilting store Saturday morning and was punched in the face and robbed. News on Six crime reporter Lori Fullbright has her story and her warning to others.

Waneva: "I'll have to show you my famous year and a half quilted one." Waneva loves to quilt, just like her mother and grandmother. She belonged to the quilt block of the month club and that, she says with a chuckle, is what got her into trouble. "You never dream of being mugged in the day. At night, I kinda worry about it."

Waneva went to the Quilting Nook on South Harvard to pick up her block of the month Saturday around 11:30 AM. Waneva pulled up to the store, leaned back in the car to get her purse and there was a man standing right in front of her. He didn't say a word, just punched her in the face. He ran across the parking lot, jumped this brick wall and got away. The bruise on her jaw is gone now, but she still has one on her shoulder, a place that she also has arthritis.

And, it was so unnecessary. "Oh now, I would've gave it to him. All he had to say was give me your purse and I'd say, here, take it."

Waneva has a warning for others, don't carry your life in your purse, and only take with you the bare necessities. She says, always keep your doors locked and watch parking lots for suspicious people.

She says she did none of these things before, in fact, had she seen the man in the parking lot, she wouldn't have been suspicious. But now, she will be.
