(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Oklahoma's new Secretary of State says technology and efficiency are top priorities for streamlining state government, but job cuts aren't out of the question.

Newly appointed Secretary of State Susan Savage says reviewing all positions and their effectiveness is important during the state's budget crisis.

Savage, a former Tulsa mayor, was appointed to the position by Governor Brad Henry.

Her term began last week and Savage says she is still learning the ropes.

While mayor of Tulsa the city was ranked third among 44 cities by a Los Angeles public policy institute for delivering government services.

Savage says she hopes to carry over those successes.
