Despite what the signs say, a new stretch of blacktop opened Friday afternoon for drivers. The new State Highway 97-T connects the existing Highway 97 to Highway 64 west of Sand Springs.

This new road allows traffic to move a little easier between each of those main arteries without driving through downtown Sand Springs.

The highway offers somewhat of a scenic drive, too.
