(Oklahoma City-AP) -- A New Year's hit-and-run left a man dead in an Oklahoma City street.

A passer-by waved down an officer on patrol early Wednesday morning, alerting him to a body in the road.

Sergeant Mike Klika says the unidentified victim is a white man in his 20s.

Authorities believe whoever hit the man has right front-end damage to their vehicle.

The officer found the body about 3:20 AM near the intersection of 9th Street and Meridian.
