A walk on the wild side has left some Sapulpa high school students faced with fines.
Sapulpa Police are cracking down on jaywalking, and ticketing teens the maximum fine. About 20 students were handed citations Wednesday. Police say until they see the crosswalks being used, they will continue efforts to keep people from the roads.
Sapulpa Police officer Jason DeLoache, "It's looking out for these kids. I don't ever want to have to go work a crash where I have to see a person that's been hit by a car, that's not a fun experience."
The $140 fine is the maximum set by the City of Sapulpa. Violators who were ticketed were told to make a court appearance. Officers say the judge will more than likely reduce the fines.
