A young Oklahoma City boy is in serious condition after he was impaled on a fence.

Authorities say it appears the boy was climbing a tree Thursday night when he fell onto an iron fence. The tips went into his back and shoulder blade. He was rushed to the hospital where he underwent surgery.

Authorities are still investigating what happened.
