Williams Communications Group could be filing for bankruptcy. The company says it's continuing talks with banks about a plan to restructure its debt.

It had received an extended deadline to come up with a plan, but that deadline expired Wednesday. The company says it's considering a number of options, including Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

The lead lender in the talks is Bank of America, and its not commenting.
