Police need your help finding the suspects responsible for the latest brash of burglaries in Green Country.
The latest happening in Sand Springs just 20 miles east from last week's burglary in Inola. News on Six Reporter Patrina Adger says the Sand Springs Tag Agency was open Monday but they weren't able to make ID's since most of their camera equipment was stolen.
This is the second time this agency has been burglarized. So, the owner had glass installers put in a special piece of glass, so this won't happen again. The Sand Springs Tag Agency was open for business as usual Monday. It was unusual to hear shattered glass as repairmen worked to clean up the mess, thieves left behind early Sunday morning.
Workers replaced the boarded window with laminated glass. The same kind of glass that's in the front door. Thieves couldn't bust through it. "It takes roughly 60-80 seconds to get thru that with a ball bat, by then the police are on their way. It won't fall out like this one did.†Thieves nabbed $10,000 worth of decals and swiped enough equipment to make 300 ID's. But owner Harold Morris says they didn't take the special laminator plate used to operate the camera. "They won't be able to use the camera, they will be able to use the black boarder cards if they were in with the group that stole the camera from Inola."
Oklahoma's Department of Public Safety has implemented strict rules for tag agencies to follow. Such as locking up camera operating equipment separately from the camera. But a spokesperson for the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety says each tag agency is independently contracted through the state. So, they are ultimately responsible for security at their facility. Morris says he following those rules to a tee but, "If they want in, they'll get in regardless"
