WASHINGTON (AP) _ Great Brands of Europe Inc. is recalling thousands of boxes of a soft cookie that may have picked up traces of milk protein during manufacturing, posing a risk of serious or life-threatening reactions to people allergic to milk.
The Le PIM's soft biscuits with orange, pear or raspberry filling were sold nationwide. The recalled versions bear the following UPC codes: 6-94990-00850-6, 6-94990-0085-1 and 6-94990-08370-1.
Consumers with milk allergies should not eat the product but return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
The Food and Drug Administration said Great Brands had received one report of an allergic reaction, a woman who said she had eaten the brand previously without any problems.
The cookies apparently picked up traces of milk protein when they shared a manufacturing line with other products that contain milk, an FDA spokeswoman said.
Consumers with questions may call Great Brands' Wilton, Conn., office at 1-800-322-4619.
