A man who friends say simply wanted to help another person is gunned down outside an east Tulsa nightclub.

It happened over the weekend and police are still searching for the suspects. Witnesses say someone fired an assault rifle in the parking lot during a fight outside Club Caribe located at 11300 East 21st Street. Two men were killed in the hail of bullets and four others wounded.

News on Six reporter Steve Berg says 25-year-old Yvary Garcia had only worked as a bouncer at the club for about a month. His girlfriend says he was a generous person with a big heart. That's why she says he went to help, when the trouble started.

Christina Carrizales met Yvary Garcia at Club Caribe on New Year's Eve. They had an on-again, off-again romance. But this past week, she says they reunited and spent Valentine's Day together and celebrated her birthday on Friday. On Saturday night, he surprised her at the club with a birthday present. A CD player for her car. "And he said to me, you look lovely tonight, and I said thank you and I said likewise. And he gave me a kiss and he said I love you, and he said, 'I'm going to go back up to the door."

A little before midnight, a fight broke out in the parking lot. Christina says one of the other bouncers tried to stop Yvary. "And he told Yvary, come inside, just let them be, just let them kill themselves or whatever and Yvary said, no. Cause I guess this guy was beaten severely, and Yvary the good person that he is was just trying to help him."

Christina says this particular group had caused trouble at the club a couple of weeks before and had pulled a knife. She says Yvary probably didn't expect a gun much less an assault rifle. Someone said there was a shooting, and she rushed outside. "And I seen him breathing a little bit and his eyes were fluttering, and I was talking, said 'C'mon baby make it, stay strong. His eyes were just fluttering like he wanted to talk to me but he couldn't and the next thing you know, his eyes just stopped moving." Christina says Yvary had lived in America since 1993.

She says he talked about quitting his job as a bouncer because of the danger. He worked during the day as a cable TV installer, but wanted the extra money to move back to the Dominican Republic. "Cause he hadn't seen his family in five years, his mother in five years. And he said that's why he was working at the club to make money to save up to go back home." Christina says Yvary had no family in Tulsa.

The owner of the club is going to arrange for his funeral.
