It was the pride and joy of Pawhuska. A grand old flag flying as a tribute to victims of the September 11th terrorist attacks. But the 30-by-50 foot flag is in tatters, shredded by last week's ice storm.

The winter blast ripped the flag and city crews had to tie it to its 85-foot pole. Now community leaders are collecting donations to replace the flag. The Masonic Lodge and Wal-Mart in Bartlesville have offered to match any donations.

A veterans group will remove the old flag and fold it properly for display at the city plaza.
