The price we pay to heat our homes is going up. Oklahoma Natural Gas says the weather is to blame this year, not higher prices.

Many customers have noticed their January gas bills were much higher than December, and have called the gas company to complain. ONG customer, "It went on up there, it hadn't been being that high.” Another customer, "It's extremely high." Eugene Harris with ONG customer service, "I think when people are comparing their January with December bills, they're not realizing that it was quite a bit colder in January than in December."

Records of "heating degree days" measuring the cold shows the weather a year ago was much colder than this past year. But December 2001 was warmer than January - which made gas bills go up compared to the month before.
