One of the most famous names in doughnuts made a stop in Tulsa Tuesday, with a very important announcement.

Krispy Kreme broke ground Tuesday morning on its future 71st and Highway 169 location. The doughnut chain has franchises across the country, including Oklahoma City, but this south Tulsa store will be the first one here.

What makes Krispy Kremes so special? Operations director, Brent Kennedy, "Every time you come in they sprinkle a little magic dust over ya. If you've never had a hot Krispy Kreme coming off the line, it's an experience that will last with you forever."

This Krispy Kreme store is expected to open May 21st. But there are plans in the works for a second Krispy Kreme store in Tulsa. The location hasn't been announced yet.
