STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) _ Oklahoma State forward Ivan McFarlin has been named Big 12 rookie of the week in voting by a media panel.
McFarlin, a sophomore, averaged 16 points and 12.5 rebounds in victories over Nebraska and Colorado last week. In the Nebraska game, he set career highs with 20 points and 17 rebounds.
He was 6-of-8 from the field against Colorado and also grabbed eight rebounds.
``Ivan continues to improve and certainly has surpassed what the coaching staff felt he would be able to do in his first year of competition,'' coach Eddie Sutton said Monday.
``One reason he's developed like he has is that he's probably the hardest worker we have on the team, and when you work hard, you are going to get better.''
