Several local high school students got a lesson in medicine Thursday. Twenty students from Cascia Hall are shadowing medical students and faculty at the University of Oklahoma. They get to attend lectures, seminars and even tour hospitals.
Thursday, the students visited a free clinic at Tulsa's Neighbor for Neighbor. Karen Mulkey with OU's Community Relations, "it's very important that we see that side of medicine. That there are alot of people out there in need especially uninsured. We'd like to be able to have students go through medicine and eventually be able to give back." Morgan White, Cascia Hall Junior, "At first I wasn't sure if I wanted to be a doctor or not, but after this experience I really do want to become a doctor because just seeing the doctors help people is so amazing."
This is the first year for the program. OU says they plan to expand the program to work with other high schools.
