VINITA, Okla. (AP) _ Craig County prosecutors charged a Vinita police officer on Wednesday in connection with a string of burglaries at local businesses.
Four counts of second-degree burglary and a count of knowingly concealing stolen property were filed against police Sgt. Richard Alan Schuyler and Mark Steven Chapman, his alleged accomplice.
Schuyler, who was suspended after his Jan. 5 arrest, also was charged with use of a weapon in commission of a crime.
According to court records, the burglaries occurred in late November and throughout December.
Schuyler and Chapman allegedly gained entry to C&L Supply, Curtiss Tate Tire, Car Quest and T.H. Rogers Lumber Co. by picking locks, court documents show.
Schuyler's weapons charge stems from knowingly possessing a weapon while in possession of stolen property.
