TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ Greg Harrington scored 18 points as Tulsa held off Texas-El Paso to win 66-61 Thursday in a Western Athletic Conference game.
UTEP (6-10, 1-4 WAC) used physical play to disrupt Tulsa's small three-guard lineup. It worked most of the game as the Miners outrebounded Tulsa (11-3, 2-1) 28-23.
But foul problems eventually caught up with UTEP.
The Miners led 49-45 with 9:52, but Tulsa made 11 free throws over the last seven minutes to keep UTEP at bay.
Marqus Ledoux came off the bench to score 11 points for Tulsa. Ledoux scored four consecutive points to give TU the lead for good at 50-49 with 6:08 to play.
Roy Smallwood and Brian Stewart each scored 12 points to lead UTEP. Eugene Costello added 11.
Tulsa, which led 31-29 at halftime, committed 17 turnovers.
