If someone were trying to give you $10,000, you'd take it wouldn't you? Most of us would. But as the News on Six’s Rick Wells explains, the Broken Arrow Chamber has $10,000 to give, but so far, no takers.

The Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce can't even give money away. They've got $10,000 and apparently no one wants it. Kathy Landreth with the Chamber, "I don't know why someone doesn't have it, just don't have any idea." What she's talking about is the winning ticket, like one of these that matches the winning number, the new winning number they just drew a new one. Up one side of Main Street and down the other and all over Broken Arrow from early November 'til just before Christmas merchant gave out little tickets. With the ticket the promise of $10,000 to the holder of the winning number.

Bonnie Bowman's sister in law won the money last year, she's hoping this is her year, but so far no luck. “Most all of mine came from Wal-Mart, I was so excited when they said that was the ticket last time, but I didn't have it, maybe I will this time. It's the ticket this time too." “Praise the Lord, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.” Sandra Scott Hopes she a winner cause she needs a vacation. Wells, "Where would you go?" “Probably New York City." They have kept their tickets; most people probably don't know where theirs are. Kathy Landreth, "It could be in a coat pocket, the bottom of a purse, in the car.”

Merchants gave out four million little green tickets almost twice as many as last year, proving the success of the program, now they need a winner. Last year it took until nearly Valentine's Day to give the money away. This week's number will be the third this year. Wells, "And you'll keep doing this.” Landreth, "until someone wins.” Wells, “No matter how long it takes." Landreth, “No matter how long it takes, so we may be summer time." Oh let's hope not.

A number has been drawn. As with the last ticket, this one was given out at the Broken Arrow Wal-Mart. Here's the number, 4460937. If you have the winning ticket call the Broken Arrow Chamber at 251-1518.
