The clean up of an overturned fuel tanker quickly became a dangerous situation for Tulsa Fire crews Sunday night.

The semi turned over in a ditch Sunday afternoon at 36th and Quanah following a mechanical failure. Then hours later, as crews were transferring fuel from the overturned tanker, something sparked what officials call a flash fire, and fire fighters leaped into action. Tulsa Fire Department Capt Hubert Rouse: "It sparked on them, ignited a fire, we had to quickly begin to put some foam on it, foam blankets. We was able to bring it under control fairly quickly and still continue to put foam on it to make sure it doesn't ignite again."

Officials say there was about 1,500 gallons of fuel in the tanker at the time of the flash fire. No one was injured, and the only damage was to the overturned tanker-trailer.
