The American Red Cross is decking the halls this year with a touch of patriotism. The local Red Cross centers are decorated in red, white and blue. Special displays honor police officers and firefighters.
Several of the decorations were made by local school children. Melody Johnson with the American Red Cross, "After 9-11 area children brought in wonderful decorations in commemoration for their sympathy for the tragedy, we've decorated in garland and flags and all kinds of things the kids have made."
In the spirit of the season, the Red Cross will be giving away a specially designed commemorative ornament to those who donate blood anytime before December 22nd.
To make an appointment to donate blood, you can call the American Red Cross at 1-800-448-3543, or drop by one of the local blood centers.
