DALLAS (AP) _ Oklahoma will play in the Cotton Bowl this year against a team from the Southeastern Conference, the Big 12 Conference announced Monday.

OU plays Texas every year in Cotton Bowl stadium, but has never played in the 65-year-old bowl game.

Oklahoma is one of eight Big 12 teams in postseason play this year.

Colorado (10-2) qualified for a Bowl Championship Series by defeating Texas 39-37 in the Big 12 Championship last week.

Nebraska, with a confirmed BCS at-large bid, also will participate in a BCS bowl.

The other five Big 12 teams that will play in bowl games this year are Iowa State, Kansas State, Texas, Texas Tech and Texas A&M.
