Channel six has learned the Owasso City Manager handed in his resignation to council members in a special session Friday evening.

Larry Mitchell has only been with the city about a year and a half.

Several weeks ago, The News On Six first told you about a controversy involving two Owasso police officers and the city.

The officers claim they were wrongfully fired, but Mitchell upheld the decision to not reinstate them.

Council members won't say whether that situation has anything to do with Mitchell's resignation.

H. C. Williams: city council: "there are some issues that he could not come to agreement with the majority of the council. he knows what those issues are."

Neither the Mayor nor Mitchell would comment.

Mitchell leaves city hall November 21st.
