Oklahoma Governor Keating is just one of many people who took part Monday in the terrorism hearings in New York City.
The Select Intelligence Committee's Terrorism and Homeland Defense subcommittee held a hearing in New York City on how to prevent and respond to terrorist attacks. Governor Keating appeared on CNN before the hearing. He talked about the importance of federal and local authorities working together to respond to possible attacks. "The information people receive will largely be from state and local authorities, doctors, nurses, ambulance drivers, all those locally trained people who need to have high levels of professionalism below so that we can give assurance to the people that if anything awful happens, they will be taken care of."
Meanwhile, President Bush chaired the first meeting of his Homeland Security council at the White House. The council was created in the wake of the September 11th attacks. He says his first priority is getting to the bottom of the anthrax attacks.
Homeland Security Chief Tom Ridge says he'll begin regular briefings to keep the public informed, and anxiety in check.
