TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ She should have seen it coming.

A fortune teller at the Tulsa State Fair was ticketed for charging an undercover Tulsa County sheriff's deputy $10 for her services. Oklahoma law bars fortune tellers from being paid.

Deputies patrolling the fair saw Stevens' booth and gave her a copy of the law, which dates back to 1915, Sheriff's Capt. Tim Albin said.

During a second check, they noticed Stevens was telling fortunes for free, with the purchase of a small trinket.

A deputy working undercover went to Stevens' booth on Monday and she read his fortune for $10. There was no trinket involved, however, officials said.

``The deputy did everything he could do to keep from spitting his teeth out,'' Albin said.

Stevens was given a ticket for a misdemeanor violation that is punishable by a fine of up to $500 and up to six months in jail.

A Nov. 5 court date was set for Stevens. Albin said he doesn't know if she's still reading fortunes at the fair.
