NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ University of Oklahoma President David Boren, a former chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said he has been consulted by the White House about the Sept. 11 terror attacks.
Boren, a former U.S. senator, said the battle America faces in its fight against terrorism will be more like police work and less like World War II.
He said members of the George W. Bush administration consulted him last week about how the country will respond to the attacks. Boren would not reveal specifics, but told reporters he has visited with the president as well as former President George Bush.
He said three things need to be considered _ an international security system, a comprehensive economic plan to boost consumer confidence and an institutional framework to keep the bipartisanship going.
Boren was chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee in the late 1980s.
