One Green Country community has a dial tone again after being without phone service for half the night.

The problem affected all of Pawnee County, with no town to town calling possible, and no 911 services. Authorities say they noticed the problem around ten o'clock Thursday night. Apparently a fiber cable was cut near Sapulpa. It took Southwestern Bell Crews several hours to fix the problem.

Communities from Pawnee, to Bristow, Stroud and Hominy were without local and long distance service, and no 911. Pawnee Co Commissioner, Joe Allenbaugh: “What complicated this was all of our long distance and local telephone service was down. About ten o'clock we implemented a countywide emergency and notified all the surrounding small communities and local fire departments. We called out extra deputies.” City and county law officers parked patrol cars throughout the county in the event of an emergency. Officials say no emergencies came up that they are aware of.

Service was restored around 3 AM Friday.
