A retired Tulsa Public School teacher is arrested for child pornography. Police took 54 year-old Roger Dale Marlow of Bixby into custody in connection with nude photos of a 16 year-old Tulsa girl.
News on Six Reporter Glenda Silvey says the sexually explicit photos were allegedly taken at a south Tulsa business Marlow owned called the "Just Precious Photography Studio." Tulsa Police want to hear from any parents whose daughters may have been photographed there. Tulsa Police Sgt Wayne Allen, "A parent brought these photographs in along with her daughter after she discovered the photographs."
Police say a Tulsa teenager claims retired Tulsa teacher Roger Dale Marlow took nude photos of her, knowing she was underage. That lead to a search of Marlow's Bixby home, and a south Tulsa photography studio he owned." Detectives have discovered a number of other photographs depicting young women, most nude. Marlow was employed as a math and science teacher at Tulsa Public Schools for nearly 30 years before retiring in 1998. Most of his career was at Monroe Middle School, a feeder school to the Tulsa School for Science and Technology.
Police say Marlow told them he circulated business flyers at that school and Broken Arrow Public Schools. Tulsa school officials say they never approved any flyer for Marlow, and aren't aware any were distributed. John Hamill with Tulsa Public Schools: "If he had received authorization from someone at the school level, one, that's a violation of our policy and procedures, and two, the only reason I can think would be a professional courtesy to a retired educator." "We have 54 nude photos of this young woman taken by Mr. Marlow." Allen says the names and ages of young women in the other photos aren't yet known. "There did not appear to be any computer records or written records indicating any of the girls names that we could find at this point."
Hamill says Tulsa Public Schools will review procedures to see if they need tightening. Police are asking parents to contact them if their daughters may have been photographed at Just Precious Studios. Allen, "For each victim that we find will result in additional charges against Mr. Marlow.
Here are the numbers to call with any information in this case. Tulsa Police at 596-2824, or Crimestoppers at 596-COPS. Tulsa Public Schools also said if a student has information and isn't yet comfortable talking with police, he or she should contact the school counselor or Safe Schools Hotline. Marlow is in jail on $100,000 bond.
