You can help local senior citizens feel a little safer. Many of the residents of Tulsa’s Pythian Manor have physical limitations that keep them from leaving home.
Some say they worry about having an emergency and not being able to call for help in time. That's why Gloria Nicoleoli thought it was important to bring cell phones to her neighbors, so they could be free of fear. Nicoleoli got her phone through the Tulsa County Sheriff's office. "Before I go out the door I will take it with me; either on my hip or on my handbag - wherever I'm going."
Tulsa County Sheriff’s Deputy Sgt. Sherri Carrier, "Overall, I think it's just a great feeling for them to have something - a tool that they can use if they need it."
If you're interested in donating - or receiving - a cell phone, call the Sheriff's office at 596-8555, or you can drop off used phones at 303 West 1st Street.
