Just about all of us are hoping for some refreshing rain. That's particularly true for two of the state's oldest industries which are being hard hit by the heat. Ranchers say parched pastures will make it difficult to feed livestock through the summer.

They'll have to turn to area hay suppliers. The problem? Hot, dry, windy weather has also dried out hay fields so farmers are only harvesting about half what they did last year. Those who didn't purchase hay in advance may not be able to find enough to feed their livestock.
