(Undated-AP) -- Oklahoma is represented across the pond at the British Open.

Former Oklahoma State stars Scott Verplank and Bob May are competing in the golf tournament.

Verplank is among the group of golfers who shot even par 71 in the opening round.

May didn't do as well, shooting a six-over 77 on the course at Royal Lytham and Saint Annes.

Scotland's Colin Montgomerie leads the Open after shooting a 6-under 65. Montgomerie is chasing his first major.
