(Morgantown, West Virginia-AP) -- Who will eventually replace conference lame duck Temple on West Virginia's football schedule in the next few years?

Who knows?

Athletic Director Ed Pastilong says nothing is etched in stone. New football coach Rich Rodriguez hasn't had much time to worry about it.

With the Owls about to receive the boot from the Big East, Connecticut will eventually take their place. The Huskies are already a league member in all other sports.

They will enter the Big East Football Conference in 2004.

Meanwhile, Pastilong says Temple could remain on the schedule until U-Conn becomes a member and even afterwards.

Rodriguez says he hasn't thought too much about future schedules. But he says a T-V game with a team from a major conference would be his first choice.

He says exposure against good competition is the best way to get people to notice your program.
