OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Jack Dale Walker will be executed on Aug. 28 for murdering his girlfriend and her uncle 13 years ago, the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals decided Wednesday.
The court scheduled Walker's execution one day after it was requested by Attorney General Drew Edmondson. The U.S. Supreme Court denied a final appeal for Walker late Monday.
Walker, 35, was convicted of the Dec. 30, 1988, murders of Shelly Dean Ellison, the 17-year-old mother of Walker's infant son, and her uncle, Donald Gary Epperson, in Bixby.
A co-worker drove Walker to the trailer house of Ellison's grandmother, Juanita Epperson, on the morning of the attack, records show. Walker said he intended to take his three-month-old son with him, but Ellison and her grandmother said the baby was sick and could not leave.
Walker became violent and attacked Ellison with a knife, records show. She was stabbed 32 times but still managed to dial 911 during the attack. She died at the scene.
Donald Epperson was stabbed 11 times and died a short time later.
Ellison's grandmother suffered a broken arm and a stab wound.
The infant was not injured in the attack and has been raised by family members.
Walker was arrested at the scene and admitted to police that he killed Ellison.
