OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Herschel Crow of Altus, state transportation chairman, is Gov. Frank Keating's choice to replace Neal McCaleb as transportation secretary.
Keating planned to make the official announcement at a news conference Tuesday afternoon.
``There is not an individual in the state who knows transportation issues better than Herschal Crow,'' Keating said Monday in Lawton.
Crow, 66, is an Altus businessman and former state senator.
McCaleb is President Bush's nominee to head the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
``In the remaining 18 months of my administration, it will be helpful to have a secretary who can continue the wonderful leadership tradition of Neal McCaleb,'' Keating said.
Senate confirmation is required.
