BOSTON (AP) _ The Boston Bruins traded right wing Cameron Mann to the Dallas Stars for defenseman Richard Jackman on Sunday at the NHL draft in Sunrise, Fla.

``We think Cameron is a fine prospect,'' Boston general manager Mike O'Connell said. ``We just felt that maybe it was time for him to have a change of scenery and we think this trade with Dallas for Richard is a good fit for both teams.''

Jackman split the last two seasons between Dallas and its International Hockey League affiliates in Michigan and Utah. He played 38 NHL games during that span with one goal and two assists.

Mann divided time between Boston and its American Hockey League affiliate in Providence, R.I., last year. He had one goal and three assists in 15 games with the NHL club.

``Richard is big, he's a terrific skater and he has a great shot,'' O'Connell said. ``I saw him in several of the games he played up in Dallas last season and I think he has a good chance to play full-time in the National Hockey League.''

Jackman, 23, was the Stars' first pick, and fifth overall, in the 1996 NHL entry draft. Boston picked Mann in the fourth round of the 1995 draft.
