FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) _ A U.S. Army truck collided with a passenger train at a rail crossing in southern Germany on Friday morning, killing at least four people, including an American, police said.
The truck driver, train engineer and two train passengers were among the dead, German police said. Ten people were seriously injured and about 15 others sustained slight injuries, authorities said.
The military was withholding the name of the truck driver, a U.S. citizen, until family members could be notified, military spokesman Maj. Greg Burke said.
It was unclear how many others were on the truck, he said. Roughly 25 people on the train, which caught fire after the collision.
The crash occurred near the Bavarian town of Vilseck. Police said the rail crossing was marked by warning signals to indicate when trains were approaching.
