Tickets for the US Open sold out a couple of years ago, but people who didn't get tickets then are looking now. KOTV's Emory Bryan checked to see if tickets are still out there, and how much they cost. The fairways of Southern Hills are ready for the US Open.
The players will be there, with 35,000 fans in the galleries, but only those with tickets. Bill Ludlow plans to go, but he wants to sell most of the tickets he bought. "I got lucky in the lottery actually." He bought four complete sets for a little less than face value, and is hoping to sell them for a profit. "I'm still trying to sell them together because it's a really good deal for someone, I'm about to split them up I think I could do better splitting them up selling them individually especially the Friday Saturday Sundays."
Though a few people hope to sell tickets through road signs, Ludlow and plenty of others are counting on newspaper ads. "Hi there, I was calling about your US Open tickets." Everyone we spoke with still had tickets. Bryan : "Have you had a lot of calls?" Ticket Holder: "I have had a lots of calls. I really have." Bryan: "What are people willing to pay?" Ticket Holder: "I'm really not asking much more than face value, I know there are people out there who are." The original ticket prices were $35 for practice rounds Monday through Thursday and $65 for tournament rounds Friday through Sunday. The better tickets are selling for about double face value, with the practice rounds selling for about $10 above the original price.
There are more tickets available on the internet and from what we've found, a number available in the classifieds, about half of them appear to be local people so you could make the transaction in person.
